Leather Lip Strap

Made of thin, rolled black leather with a silver buckle, the lip strap is intended to be used with some types of weymouth bits that have lip-strap rings about midway along the shanks. It buckles on the near side and runs through the special ring that hangs from the center of the curb chain, designed specifically for this strap. Using a lip strap helps to keep the curb chain flat and positioned correctly in the horse's chin groove.
